To Everyone Who’s Offered Help and/or Care Packages

A lot of people have made offers of help or to send care packages or bring over food or all of the above. You may have noticed that I’ve been conspicuously silent in replying to most of those offers. The reason for that is that I have a really hard time saying yes to offers of help. Even when I want to, even when I need to say yes… I have a really hard time with it. It’s the same thing that stops me from picking up the phone to call anyone but my mother when I have a problem. I’m just not good at letting other people in.

But Scott keeps telling me that people wouldn’t offer if they didn’t want to do it and that it’s more selfish of me to say no than to say yes. When he explains why that is, it makes sense, but I can never explain it when he’s not here to walk me through it. Because he says it and he makes sense, I’ve found a way to say yes that eases my discomfort about it a little: I’m passing the buck to someone who’s better at this than I am.

So if you’ve made an offer to help or cook or send a care package and I’ve not replied, please know that I am deeply grateful for your offer. If you’d still like to do that, please get in touch with Scott for our address or any other information you may need. Pretty much everyone knows how to reach him, but for anyone who doesn’t you can reach him on Twitter – kyrion – on Facebook or by email at Gmail – also kyrion.

Thank you all, from the bottom of my heart.
